Biography:
Sister Dominic grew up three blocks from the Catholic Church and attended daily Mass. She completed the nursing programs at St. Joseph School of Nursing, Mitchell, SD and Presentation Junior College, Aberdeen, SD. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI and a master’s in education from South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD.
During her nearly 60 year nursing career, Sister Dominic helped to deliver thousands of babies, taught nursing courses and served in pastoral care at (Avera) St. Luke’s, Aberdeen, SD; (Avera) McKennan, Sioux Falls, SD; St. Joseph’s (Avera Queen of Peace), Mitchell, SD, and Holy Rosary, Miles City, MT. From 1999 until 2007, Sister Dominic volunteered in the Development Office at Presentation Convent. She currently serves in the full time prayer ministry.
“I considered religious life many times, but it was hearing my mother’s words of encouragement that made me realize with a certainty that it was my true vocation. I entered Presentation Convent two weeks after completing the RN program. Many times since then I have said to the Lord, ‘I thank you a trillion, trillion times for the gift of faith and for my religious vocation,’” commented Sister Dominic. “The blessings of religious life are too numerous to mention. I am eternally grateful for this life!”
