2 Kings 5: 1-15 relates the story of Naaman an Army Commander who brought victory to the Arameans but valiant as he was, he was a leper. In a raid of Israel a little girl was captured and became the servant of Naaman’s wife. I like to think about the little girl even though she is not what the happening of Naaman is about. Although captured, she is not mopping about feeling sorry for herself, but rather wanting to be of help to her mistress and captors. Naaman through her insight was cured of his leprosy. Isn’t it remarkable what a little slave girl brought about?
Mary, mother of Jesus called herself a servant of the Lord. She did what God asked of her. We also can be slaves of the Lord! How? By accepting joyfully what comes to us each day. Are we prepared to be slaves?
