Dear Friends,

Who then shall we be? This question was posed at a recent gathering for the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). It is one that is being asked and discerned all over the world as we navigate mystery in the unfolding future. We know women are still being called to religious life, but not in the  numbers they once were. With this shift, our lay partners are being called to leadership in new ways, working alongside the Sisters in addressing the growing needs of our world today.

Within our Congregation, we are seeing this shift in several of our ministries. Many of you have partnered with Caminando Juntos and are aware of the impact this ministry has with the Hispanic population in our Sioux Falls community. Through immigration, education and our annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, we celebrate the richness of the Latino cultures. However, something new is emerging and Caminando Juntos has started the process to be its own 501c3, which will be completed in 2025. We are excited for these new opportunities for growth and sustainability as we look to the emerging future.

We are grateful for your collaboration and partnership as we continue to join together in faith, a spirit of hospitality, compassion and simplicity with all of creation. We thank you for imagining and dreaming with us and are inspired by your trust and companionship on this journey.

One Pace Beyond
Take down your lantern from its
niche and go out!
You may not rest in firelight
certainties,
Secure from drifting fog of
doubt and fear.
You may not build yourself
confining walls and say,
“Thus far, and thus, and thus far
shall I walk,
And these things shall I do, and
nothing more.”
Go out! For needs calls loudly in
the winding lanes
And you must seek Christ there. Your pilgrim heart
Shall urge you still one pace
beyond,
And love shall be your
lantern flame.
