Gifts in ActionVocation Outreach Through our Vocation Outreach Ministry, the Presentation Sisters offer a variety of programs and activities to enrich your faith life and support spiritual and personal growth for youth, young adults and adults. This Vocation Outreach includes three Leadership Camps. L.I.V.E. Latina Camp – Leading Individuals, Voicing Equality (L.I.V.E.) is a Leadership Camp for junior high Latina girls living in the Omaha, Neb. metro area. Goals for this camp are to prepare young Latinas to take the role of leadership seriously and develop skills as leaders. Secondly, we aim to assist the young campers in developing a sense of their own values and self-confidence. This camp is an important tool to encourage Latinas to seek higher education and provide a basis for building their self-esteem through proactive reflection on their lives. The Camp offers sessions on setting goals and team building. Songs, crafts, skits and a challenge course are some other activities used to engage the young women in the camp agenda. The girls are a great support for one another. Black Hills Camp – This Leadership Camp is for junior high girls and is held at Storm Mountain Retreat Center by Rapid City, S.D. In its 15 years, this camp has mentored over 1,000 girls. The goals of the camp allow the girls who attend to experience it as a place where they feel safe and can talk about feelings and faith, where the pressures of day to day are lifted from their shoulders, where they can imagine themselves acting in new ways – ways that reflect more fully who they want to become, rather than settling for what is, and where they meet and interact with role models and peers and learn and teach each other valuable lessons. Live Out Loud (LOL) – This 3 day Leadership Camp is for young women ages 15 to 19 and held each year at the Broom Tree Retreat Center. LOL is an opportunity for former Leadership Campers to reconnect, although being Leadership Camp alumni is not required. LOL involves a guest speaker, service activity, prayer, sharing and many opportunities to deepen your faith.
