Minutes of Estherville, Iowa, Pax Christi
June 2010

Minutes of Estherville, Iowa Pax Christi 2009/2010(In a nutshell) We began our season in September viewing Franz Jagerstatter, “A Man of Conscience.” After brief discussion we also established our plans for the year and decided to take turns presenting “WAND.” We were able to present five sessions of WAND even with several “weathered-out” and rescheduled meetings. With several of our members experiencing personal health and family problems our monthly membership has waned and we are looking to a campaign to encourage new membership. Ours is an ecumenical group who is also justice focused and sometimes over-extended in other organizations. We are scheduled to meet with the Milford,IA Peace and Justice Committee to visit with them about ideas they might have which would interest us. Our June meeting will feature a presentation on immigration… “A Climate of Fear,” presented by Alex Pera, a surg tech from Avera Holy Family who has been a champion of justice for our Hispanic population, and has been particularly attentive to the recent Arizona initiative. Sadly for us, we will also have a portion of that meeting as a tribute to Bill Graettinger, the “soul” of our Pax Christi group since its inception. He slipped peacefully into Eternity on May 23. Our meetings are held on the 1st Sunday of each month at 7pm in the Duhigg Center which is at the intersection of Iowa Highway #9 and #4.
