Cojourner Carol Welbig
Carol, whose companion sister is Sister Elaine Garry, became a cojourner in 1986. She was raised in Moody County and educated in the Flandreau Schools, where she remembers the Presentation Sisters' visits for religious education classes.
After high school Carol entered the Medical Mission Sisters of Philadelphia, but left the congregation two years later. She eventually began attending classes at Presentation College, where she made some good friends among the Presentation Sisters.
Carol married Richard Welbig in 1971 and they have three children. Carol's spirituality has grown through association with the Presentation Sisters and the teaching of CCD classes. Richard passed away in 2000; Carol currently lives in Brookings where she works at Brookview Manor.
